PAPA World Championship

Spent 2 Days at the PAPA World Championship, an annual Pinball Tournament held in Carnegie. I didn't compete, of course, because even the worst division of folks were 10 times better than me (roughly literally). But they also have a huge variety of tables from 1946 to 2008, some even set to free play. If you're a fan of pinball, it's a great time. And yes, it's totally doable to spend 2 days there--some folks even went for 3! A sampling of things from the two days I was there:

The sign says it all. Note the 4th day is only for the finals.

A row of old tables. The closest one, sadly cropped, is from 1946.
Magic, the next table over, is from 1948.

Nothing like avoiding pesky licensing issues by waiting till they're dead. This was actually a cool table, with some nice dual-bonus action from the 1970s. Also interesting because it's a Spanish table, possibly the first foreign table I've played.

My absolute favorite of the old tables. So old you have to actually push the balls into the playing service with a separate plunger before starting each round. The longer I stayed, the more I liked playing tables that showed the bonuses as you racked them up and made bells and whistles instead of electronic noises. But I still prefer my digital cameras!

Generally speaking, I'm not that good at pinball. But in a place where good players abounded, I was totally geeked at getting my initials up on one of the tables--and my old time favorite, Whodunnit, too. So here's a little bit of bragging rights! (heh heh)
